The village

A love for alpine detail and a particularly sensitive use of regional wood material form the basis of the planning concept. The houses have been consciously set apart by being built on the slightly southerly and easterly slanting slope. This creates the authentic atmosphere of a mountain village and, at the same time, gives each house a great deal of privacy. The typical regional appearance is emphasised by the full-wood facades and roof pitch. The common buildings, such as the reception buildings or restaurants, are centrally located to keep routes as short as possible.

When planning the planting concept, much emphasis was put on regional flora. This is of particular importance, since plants grow slowly due to the high altitude. Fast growing of non-regional plants is not only proscribed, but also extremely difficult. Thus you will mainly see Swiss stone pines and other needle-bearing trees that integrate wonderfully into the overall picture and define the village’s incomparable flair in summer and winter. At the start of summer, it is well worth a stay in Turrach, even if it is just to experience the alpine rose in full bloom. In the village you will wonder in amazement not only at the alpine rose, but also at the innumerable typical mountain flowers, and that in an almost allergy-free environment in which early-summer hay fever is unknown.
